Sharon Garden, a 58-year-old resident of Hamilton, Ontario and a longtime employee of McMaster University passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. She was announced dead by Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame in a statement that says “It is with heavy hearts that we share the shocking and tragic news of the passing of Sharon Garden, beloved President of the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame.”
Who was Sharon Garden?
Bob Garden adored Sharon Joan Garden, who was also a devoted mother to Kyle and Jessica. Her late father David Barham and mother Joan both cherished her. April Waddell, Paul Barham, and Tom Barham all cherished having Sharon as a sister. Sharon was the one who kept her entire family together and had a strong love for them all. With her contagious smile and happy laugh, she was a bright spot in their life. Sharon’s compassion and concern for others were an outward reflection of her strong trust in her Lord and Saviour.
Before joining McMaster University, Sharon worked for 18 years at Hamilton Health Sciences, Hamilton Civic Hospitals Research Centre, and Hamilton General Hospital. She was a much-loved employee. In addition, Sharon served as President of the Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame, which was her most recent venture in a lifetime of community service and volunteer work. In addition, Sharon loved expressive arts including painting, drawing, cross-stitching, and pottery in particular.

Family and friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at MacNab Street Presbyterian Church, 116 MacNab St S, Hamilton, on Monday, September 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Cancer Assistance Program, a charity of Sharon’s heart, would be appreciated by the family.
