Miller Road Park in Avon Lake, Ohio was forced to close for many hours on Tuesday due to a suicide. At 12:53 p.m. on Tuesday, the Avon Lake Police Department received a call reporting that a man had admitted to shooting himself at the park. According to a press release issued by Lieutenant Fran Tibbitts of the Avon Lake Police Department, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of an older male on the western side of the park.
According to the announcement, paramedics from the Avon Lake Fire Department were also present at the site, and the Lorain County coroner was notified. A self-inflicted gunshot wound was determined to be the cause of death in this case scenario. The name of the man was not made public by the police. According to the announcement and posts on Avon Lake’s Facebook page earlier on Tuesday, the park was closed during the first inquiry; however, it was reopened at 2:40 p.m. on the same day.
