Former United States Representative Michael Grimm of Staten Island, New York was injured after a horse riding accident on Sunday 22nd September 2024. The news was known through a publication that said “On Sunday September 22, our friend Michael Grimm sustained significant injury when thrown from his horse in a polo tournament. He is now in recovery and thanks you all for your prayers and well wishes.”
Raised as a Catholic in Queens, New York, Grimm is the son of Petrina (née Castronova) and Gerard Grimm, with a rich heritage encompassing German, Irish, and Sicilian roots. He graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in 1988, setting the stage for a life marked by service and commitment.
In 1989, Grimm joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he distinguished himself with a combat promotion to corporal and received multiple accolades, including the Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Unit Commendation. After earning a BBA in accounting from Baruch College in 1994, he transitioned to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, completing his service in 1997.
Pursuing his passion for law, Grimm graduated magna cum laude from New York Law School with a Juris Doctor in 2002. His career took a significant turn when he joined the FBI as a clerk in 1991. By 1995, he was attending the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and soon became a special agent, specializing in undercover operations.
During his nine-year tenure with the FBI, Grimm worked notably within the Gambino Squad, delving into the inner workings of organized crime alongside figures like Peter Gotti, brother of the infamous John Gotti. His unique journey from the Marines to law enforcement showcases his dedication to service and the pursuit of justice.
